A security family is a collection of hosts that have the same template assigned and that therefore have the same security attributes. Use this Security Families tool to do the following:

Each host and network with which communications are allowed must have a template assigned, either directly or through a hierarchical fallback or wildcard entry that includes the host or network.

To view or modify the existing templates, double-click the Security Families icon.

The existing templates display in the the right-hand pane.

For more details about the default templates and about how each of the security attributes is used, see About Security Families.
