ColorCodes 1.0 - by Jochen Pier from Cyclon Softworx

This small tool is for programmers, who need custom colors in their
applications. You can choose your color via the color chooser and ColorCodes
displays the codes, you have to enter for a new NSColor.

  hope you like it

Subject: [*] QIF Categories 1.6 - Adding Categories to QIF Files Based on Description

QIF Categories converts Quicken Interchange Format (QIF) banking or
credit card transaction files, adding Quicken categories based on the
description of each transaction. It is
useful for converting QIF downloaded from online banking or credit
card web sites before importing them into Quicken. To convert a QIF
file, just drop it onto QIF Categories.
You can configure QIF Categories as a browser helper application for
files of type application/qif to have it invoked automatically on
downloaded QIF files.

QIF Categories converts each transaction in the QIF file dropped on
it by: 1) Deleting any existing category; 2) Adding a category
associated with the transaction's description, or getting the
category from the user if none is associated; 3) removing the plus
sign from transaction amounts (because not all versions of Quicken
allow plus signs); 4) optionally adding an indication that the
transaction has cleared; 5) optionally extracting a check number from
the description (unless the transaction already has a check number);
6) optionally changing the description and category to values
associated with the combination of the original description and the
amount; and 7) transferring all other parts of each transaction to
the output file. You can convert the input file in place or choose a
different output filename.

System requirements:
* System 7 through 8.6; not tested with MacOS 9, but should work

For more information, please read the documentation enclosed, or
visit the QIF Categories Web page:

Subject: [*] Star Gate 1.3.2

Here is Star Gate 1.3.2, the latest version of my Mac-PC file transfer
utility.

Star Gate is a utility that allows easy transfer of files between Mac and
PC,
or PC and PC, via a serial link. If you need to transfer files between
computers
and don't want to bear the expense of network cards, transceivers and
commercial network software then you need Star Gate.

Star Gate is easy to configure and requires only a cheap null-modem cable.
It
can transfer whole directory trees and reconstruct the tree on the receiving
computer. It also performs text translation so the line endings of text
files
are always correct for the receiving computer. The interface is simple and
convenient. To send a file to another computer simply drag it to the
outgoing
directory and it will automatically appear in the incoming folder of the
other
computer. Forget about protocols, packets, CRCs etc. just drag your files!

Note: the software requires a serial port on your Mac.

Subject: [*] TaskMenuBar 2.3.2

TaskMenuBar is a control panel that uses the empty space on the
menu bar for many operations such as launching and switching
applications, and opening files. Because it only uses the menu bar,
unlike other utilities, it will never obscure or be obscured by other
windows.

Version 2.3.2 fixes a bug that made the menu bar inactive
in the previous version.

Requires System 7.1 or later including OS-8 and 9 with a 68K
or PPC processor.

Shareware fee: $15.

Subject: [*] Word Square Builder 3.1.2 : educational word search puzzle software

Word Square Builder is a PPC Mac program for building word search puzzles
where interlocking words are hidden in a grid of letters. It allows the user
to enter, save and reuse word lists, control the size and shape of the
puzzle, flow the puzzle around irregularly shaped pictures, control the font
and letter spacing, select the characters that may appear in the puzzle,
select the directions in which words are permitted to run, print puzzles and
puzzle solutions, and export puzzles as graphics files for use in DTP or on
the web.

The software is shareware and may be distributed (unregistered) on CD-ROM.
The software is for Mac OS 7.5 or higher and QuickTime 3.0 or better. Some
functions are not available without QuickTime 4.0 or better.

Subject: Conflict Catcher reports

I have two questions related to reports I am receiving from conflict catcher
that I am hoping to get some help with.

i. When I first open conflict catcher I am getting the message that I now
have 2 PrintingLib extensions (one of which has been disabled) and I am
being prompted to trash one of them. I have left them as is until now and
canceling the operation until I can find out which one to keep. I would have
normally trashed the one that CC had disabled except for the fact that it
appears to be a newer version (although I am sure they come from different
sources and the version numbers may not be an accurate reflection of their
usefulness). The disabled ext. is listed as ver. 8.6.5 and has an icon with
a little printer with a sheet of paper with a couple of "&" on it. The
enabled ext. is listed as ver. 8.5.1 and has an icon with a little printer
with a sheet of paper with a big "a" (adobe acrobat ??, recently installed)
on it. I don't know if I should enable the "newer" one and send the other
one to the trash or keep the existing set-up.

ii. The other concern I have is with a warning I am getting from conflict
catcher that 3 of my extensions are using more memory in the system heap at
startup than they are requesting. They are all necessary extension though
and I cannot, as CC suggests, disable any of them. They are Apple CD/DVD
Driver, the Control Strip Ext. and the Joliet Volume Access extensions. I
would like to know if anyone has had similar reports from CC and if there is
anything I can do to more thoroughly investigate just how much more memory
they are using and why and if it is a problem that even requires any further
attention.

Thanks to any and all who can provide me with some direction on these
matters.
Joseph Pilon N.F.A
