Subject: [*] Year 2000 Countdown Program

Program counts down to the millenium in Days, Hours, minutes and seconds.
Great for those working on Y2K conversion projects and for those that are
just curious. Separate README file has contact info and more detail.
Program is freeware.

Minor improvements to calculations. Jerry, gave me a lesson about what the
millenium is in gregorian calendar terms so the word millenium has been
replaced by simply Year 2000 in the documentation.

This is version 1.0.2 and it replaces 1.0.1.

Best Regards,

Brian Stevens

Subject: [*] ComparaDocs Lite Demo

ComparaDocs compares documents with each other and generates a
comparison report in web browser format (HTML) showing all changes made to
the selected documents. ComparaDocs reports not only all phrases inserted
or deleted but also any phrases that were moved. ComparaDocs is useful
both for redlining the revisions to drafts of a single document, and for
extracting the similarities between different documents.

ComparaDocs Lite is a disabled version of ComparaDocs Pro.
ComparaDocs Pro features advanced and customizable report viewing, support
for all major word processing and document formats, native execution and
integration, plus speed enhancements and additional intelligent-components
in the comparison algorithm.

For information on obtaining ComparaDocs Pro or a registered copy
of ComparaDocs Lite, visit our website http://www.ahaweb.com/comparadocs/
or email us at <comparadocs@ahaweb.com>.

ComparaDocs Lite requires the MacOS Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.0. A
color display and at least 16 MB of RAM are recommended.

The Comp.Sys.Mac.Programmer Digest is moderated by Mark Aiken
(marka@ee.mcgill.ca).

The digest is a collection of article threads from the internet
newsgroups comp.sys.mac.programmer.help, csmp.tools, csmp.misc and
csmp.games. It is designed for people who read news semi-regularly and
want an archive of the discussions. If you don't know what a
newsgroup is, you probably don't have access to it. Ask your systems
administrator(s) for details. If you don't have access to news, you
may still be able to post messages to the group by using a mail server
like anon.penet.fi (mail help@anon.penet.fi for more information).

Each issue of the digest contains one or more sets of articles (called
threads), with each set corresponding to a 'discussion' of a particular
subject. The articles are not edited; all articles included in this digest
are in their original posted form (as received by our news server at
ee.mcgill.ca). Article threads are not added to the digest until the last
article added to the thread is at least two weeks old (this is to ensure that
the thread is dead before adding it to the digest). Article threads that
consist of only one message are generally not included in the digest.

The digests can be obtained by email, ftp or through the World Wide Web.

If you want to receive the digest by mail, send email to
majordomo@ee.mcgill.ca with no subject and one of the following commands
as body:

help Sends you a summary of commands
subscribe csmp Adds you to the mailing list

Subject: [*] GrafEq 2.04 / 680x0

Here is a fully-functional evaluation copy of GrafEq 2.04, a program for
graphing, and exploring, mathematical relations. It is designed to be used
for learning and teaching high school math - it is more reliable (it will
produce correct graphs even for "tricky" relations) and easier to use
than other graphing programs, although it is not yet as feature-rich.

Some relations to try include: (type them as below, or cut & paste)

     x^2+y^2=25
     y=sine^x
     y=Arctan9^9^9(x-1)
     y=arccosx
     y<sqrtx
     y=x/sinx

The above relations will often expose problems in other graphing programs,
and help to illuminate the differences in graphing approaches. Please send
any questions, comments, or other feedback to us at peda@peda.com. The GrafEq
web site starts at http://www.peda.com/grafeq/ The included files may be
redistributed via shareware CD-ROMs and shareware ftp servers and shareware
websites as long as they are not modified in any way.

Subject: [*] John's WP Citations 2.1

A bibliography manager for WordPerfect 3.1 and later.

Automates selection and formatting of bibliographic citations to any
formatting style, including footnotes, endnotes or in-text citations plus
bibliography as required by the Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, APA or any
others.

Designed to function as easily and competently as a dedicated reference
manager such as EndNote or ProCite. Works with any database program.
Operates as a transparent extension of both the database and WordPerfect.

Unsolicited comments from users:

"wonderful . . . works very well indeed! . . . more functional than EndNote
. . . the integration between WP and FileMaker is very elegant . . . it's
nice not to have to be forced to use MS Word just because I need to use
EndNote . . . fine macros! . . . the program is very fast. It is as fast as
EndNote and much more convenient"

New in 2.0: Much faster. Multi-file support. Works with any database
program; FileMaker Pro v. 3 sample enclosed. Supports any reference style.
The most popular academic styles are built-in, and any number of your own
can be added. Automatic cross-referencing of all citations, endnotes and
footnotes.

New in 2.1: Even faster; much more flexibility in adding and editing
layouts in FileMaker.

Seamlessly integrated with John's WP Note Editor 4.0 for an enhancement to
WordPerfect for academic use that has to be seen to be believed.
Unsolicited comments from users on Note Editor:

"Very clever . . . I finally finished my doctoral dissertation, submitted
it in December, got the degree last month. The whole thing (400 pp.)
written on WordPerfect for Mac, and your footnote macros made the work
*much* easier"

Free. May be included on AMUG, Info-Mac and UMich CD's.

which includes more features. To find out more about both versions, visit
<http:www.studio405.com/textcleaner/> or write 405ware@studio405.com.

So where is the future of the Mac OS? Geoff Duncan looks at Rhapsody, the

QuickTime licensing policies, and Jeff Carlson takes special notice of
Apple's snazzy new industrial designs. In the news, we note antitrust suits
filed against Microsoft; releases of Internet Explorer 4.01, GoLive
CyberStudio 3, AutoShare 2.3, and Adobe Photoshop 5; and bid a fond
