Subject: [*] Application Commander v1.0.0

Application Commander is an utility that takes advantage of Apple's
Speech Recognition System in conjunction with the Application Switching
Manager to enable you to control and manage your running applications by
speaking some simple commands.

The Application Switching Manager is a public interface that several
third party utilities support. It is currently support by ClaireWare
Software's Program Switcher and Binary Software's PowerSwitch. For more
information on these programs, please visit one of the following web
pages:

     http://www.kamprath.net/claireware/program_switcher.html
     http://www.binarysoft.com/psmac/psmac.html

Application Commander requires the following:

Apple's Speech Recognition System v1.5 or later (comes with MacOS
8.5)
     PowerPC processor
Program Switcher v4.4.0 or PowerSwitch v1.0.0 or later

All you need to do is enable the Speech Recognition Manager in the Speech
control panel and then launch Application Commander. Application
Commander is a "background only application," so there are no options or
other user interface to mess with. All you have to do is say a command
that Application Commander recognizes and it will act on the command.
Application Commander recognizes the following commands:

     Switch to the Finder
     Switch to the Last Application
     Switch to <running application name>
     Hide Other Applications
     Hide the Current Application
Hide All Applications but the Finder
     Show All Applications
     Quit All Applications
     Quit All Other Applications
     Quit Application Commander

Most commands should be self explanatory. The "Switch to <running
application name>" means that you say "Switch to" and the name of a
running application and Application Commander will take you to it.

Application Commander is free! For more information on Application
Commander, please visit its web page at:

    http://www.kamprath.net/claireware/application_commander.html

AppSwitcher Config is a simple little AppleScript that lets you configure
OS 8.5's application switcher (the little thing that you get when you
tear-off the applications menu). It lets you set the following, most of
which is otherwise impossible without some knowledge of AppleScript:
* Orientation (horizontal or vertical)
* Growth direction (top-left corner or bottom-right)
* Ordering (launch order vs. alphabetical)
* Icon size
* Visibility of the frame
* Keyboard switching properties

Clean-Install Assistant 1.1 - Easier System Folder updates & backups.
98-10-23

Clean-Install Assistant makes it easier to migrate third-party and
personal items to a new Clean-Installed System Folder, and it may also be
used to:

Save space and backup your valuable additions and preference files
only, instead of the whole System Folder.

Install the same set of additions on multiple Macs.

Remove extra files and folders from your System Folder to restore it
to a previous state: you can take a 'snapshot' of the System Folder
and have Clean-Install Assistant extract any items added since.

Version 1.1 adds support for Mac OS 8.5 and allows migrating files from
previous System Folders as well as active ones.
It is free for personal and educational use, download from

Subject: [*] EasySwitcher

EasySwitcher 1.0.1

If you are tired of always moving the mouse to the upper right of the screen
to change between open files, or to hide open applications, EasySwitcher can
help. EasySwitcher allows for Macintosh users to have the one good feature
of Windows users (plus a few things you can't do on a Windows machine). By
pressing Control-Tab you will get a Dialog that shows all your applications
that are running (Icons). You can toggle through your applications to bring
that application to the front.

Easy Switcher doesn't stop there!

* EasySwitcher is NOT an Extension. Thus, it can be started and stopped
like an
application at anytime (without having to restart your machine).

* EasySwitcher 'Watches' what applications you are using, and keeps them
only a few key
strokes away. So that Switching between 2 applications is quick and
easy.

* EasySwitcher even has a hot key to Hide the front application. This helps
keep your
   desktop clean from cluttered windows.

 System Requirements:
* System 7.1 or Later.

Michael

Subject: [*] Navigator Enhancer 1.3 freeware

What is Navigator Enhancer?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Navigator Enhancer is an application that works with Netscape Navigator
3.x and under by adding a handy new feature.
When Netscape designed its first-generation browsers, it included a layer
of directory buttons pointing to services that varied depending on where
and how you obtained the browser. The only problem is that Netscape
didn't give users a way to edit the title and destinations of those
buttons, and most of the time the buttons remained hidden and useless.
Navigator Enhancer allows you to edit this information, so you can
substitute your favorite Web pages and services for the ones supplied by
Netscape. A word of caution, though: make sure you've exited your browser
and made a backup copy of your browser before using this application.

Navigator Enhancer is now distributed as freeware. It is available from
Marc Mennigmann's web site and all major Macintosh shareware archives and
ftp sites. Version 1.3 does not add new features to the software. It just
changes it status from shareware to freeware.

System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or clone with at least a 68020
CPU running MacOS System 7.1 or later. Netscape Navigator 2.x or 3.x.

NET/Mac v2.3.67 was born...

For those who don't know NET/Mac... NET/Mac is the application that
supports TCP/IP over packet-radio, which means, that hamradio operators
can use NET/Mac for their wireless TCP/IP network...

In this version of NET/Mac the following mods/features were implemented:

- Made the 'rebootonbaddate' command more realistic

- Added support for ethernet
(see: the version.c file and the online HELP for the 'attach' command)

- NET/Mac does NOT support the new Buckmaster CD-ROM's HAMCALL
database yet... I am trying to convince Buckmaster that I need
the new data-encryption-method, but as of yet they are not ready
to release a description of the encoding-algorithm...
The old CD-ROM's remain fully supported...

OneApp Address Book is a practical telephone and address program for
Macintosh that allows you to quickly and easily manage addresses, phone
numbers, URLs and Email addresses. All this information, previously
scattered on notes, notepads, diaries, phone books and also in various
Email programs, Internet browsers and databases, is now stored in a
single place. With OneApp Address Book you can quickly find what you are
looking for. OneApp Address Book helps you in your daily work at the
office or at home and can follow you everywhere in your PowerBook.

OneApp Address Book is integrated with the Internet, allowing you to
connect with Web pages and send Email using your favourite Email and
browser software. The program also helps you to dial phone numbers by
reading them out loud (through the speaker) and has a most useful
calendar that appears in a small separate window.

OneApp Address Book lets you easily import addresses from the principal
Email clients, like Claris Emailer, Eudora Light, Eudora Pro, Microsoft
Outlook Express and from text files exported from Claris Works, Microsoft
Works and FileMaker Pro. In addition you can export the whole OneApp

SwitchRes is an extension that allows you to control the resolutions
of all your displays. A Control Panel is joined, which lets you change
its preferences, and a Control Strip Module and a Contextual Menu
extension are bundled. You can change all your resolutions with just
one mouse click on the Finder desktop, or just by pressing one key.

It also allows you to:
----------------------

* use *all* available resolutions of your video cards, not only those
  the MacOS choose for you
* automatically switch resolution and color depth of all monitors when
launching an application, and restore your settings when quitting
* position the desktop icons where you want, at every resolution change
  and at startup
* configure the menus by choosing which resolutions and what bitdepths
will be displayed (Control Strip Module menu, Contextual Menu)

and a lot of other features...

SwitchRes requires MacOS 8, and a multisync monitor may be useful...
Of course, SwitchRes works fine under MacOS 8.5
It is distributed as a $9 shareware, but you can try the application
for 7 days.

What is new in version 1.5.1:
-----------------------------

Version 1.5.1 is essantially a bug-fixing version. It fixes the stupid
bug where using Navigation Services could crash the control panel with
a type-1 error. It also fixes a bug where the help menu of different
applications could suddenly disappear when using SwitchRes' icon menu.
Some games that were previously crahsing are now working (that includes
games that were relying on the error code returned by the Display
Manager).

As for the features, it now uses PowerPC native patches, for overall
speed; and adds support for proportional thumbbars in MacOS 8.5

What was new in version 1.5:
----------------------------

* All SwitchRes menus are definable independently: you can decide to
show the depths only in the Control Strip Module and the resolutions
only in the Contextual Menu, if you want
* SwitchRes can restore the display and sound settings when an
  application quits
* You can prevent SwitchRes to re-apply an application defined setting

Subject: [*] THE BLOCK v2.1 - Macintosh Password Protection System

What is THE BLOCK?
++++++++++++++++++
THE BLOCK is a powerful password protection system for Macintosh computers.

Unlike other password protection systems, it will not accept real
passwords. To log in to a computer protected by THE BLOCK you need to go
through a two-step process. First you need to type a Password Key, which is
a key combination similar to the Finder's Copy or Paste shortcuts
[command+c] or [command+v]. The second step is to click with the mouse on
the shutdown button on the on-screen dialog or, depending on the
preferences you set, to press the "esc" key on your keyboard.

A big part of THE BLOCK's security comes from the illusion that a real
password is needed. If intruders are not aware of how THE BLOCK works, they
will always choose the wrong approach. If they are aware, THE BLOCK will
still be as protective as every other password system because there are
many possible Password Keys and there is an option to disable the shift key
at startup. A Password Key can consist of any of the four modifiers
(command, alt, control or shift) and another key on your keyboard,
including the cursor keys, the F-keys and the page navigation keys.

THE BLOCK is US$10 shareware. It is available from Marc Mennigmann's web
site and all major Macintosh shareware archives and ftp sites. Version 2.1
is a free upgrade to registered users of any earlier version.

System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or clone with at least a 68020 CPU
running MacOS System 7.1 or later.

Features
++++++++
* Powerful password protection without a real password.
* Disabling of the shift key at startup for 68k and PPC machines.
* Activity log to keep track of the time and date of startups, failed
login attempts and changes to the preferences.
* Sound alerts when a user tries to log in with a wrong password.

Subject: [*] The MacLocksmith 2.3.0

The MacLocksmith is an useful application to save your files from
indiscreet eyes. It protects your files/folders quickly by using a very
strong encryption method and a password.
The MacLocksmith supplies also a second, soft and fast, protection system,
you may use it in situations of already hig security level.
The MacLocksmith allows you to create Cryptet. Cryptets are stand-alone
auto-decrypting applications containing one encrypted or protected file. A
Cryptet may decrypt the contained file or simply save it on HD.
Distribution of encrypted files is no longer a problem, now. You may create
FAT, PPC or 68k applications and choose a text file that will be used, by
created Cryptet, as custom About box.
The MacLocksmith can make also other actions:
-it locks/unlocks disks by software flag,
-sets/unsets lock bit of files,
-locks/unlocks names,
-shows/hides files and folders.
You may choose what it should do by setting its preferences, you may also
set the preferences on the fly, before work, simply holding down option key.
The MacLocksmith works very fast and can scan your disks looking for files
to treat.
It's Internet Config and Drag Manager aware, moreover it's Appearance savvy.
The MacLocksmith requires at least System 7 to run .

Do you have web pages you check frequently? WebChecker will help you!

WebChecker is a utility program designed to help you manage web pages you
check frequently. It will check to see if a web page has been modified, and
will notify you - or even automatically launch your favorite web browser -
when it detects any changes.

WebChecker then monitors the web pages you visit with your browser, and
marks them as "Visited" if they're part of WebChecker's list.

WebChecker requires Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and
an internet connection using either Open Transport or "Classic" Mac TCP/IP.

Version 1.2.1 has the following changes:

  - Turn on extended page checking by default.
  - Better error handling if there's not enough memory for the web browser.
  - Enhance extended page checking for better accuracy.

Shareware; $15 registration fee suggested.
