Subject: [*] Smart Scroll 3.5J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the Smart Scroll package.

Smart Scroll 3.5 extends Finder 8.5's 'Smart Scrolling' to most other
applications!

Apple has adopted 'Smart Scrolling' for Mac OS 8.5's Finder, but still only
Smart Scroll brings Proportional Thumbs and Live Scrolling to Netscape,
Emailer, Eudora, ClarisWorks, Word, and many other popular
applications.

New in version 3.5:

*Support for Mac OS 8.5 and 8.5.1
*Added choice of scrollbar arrow style
*Added support for Eudora Pro 4.02 and 4.1
*pageUp and pageDown keys may now be used instead of clicking above/below
thumb
*Misc. changes and fixes

Mac OS 8.5 provides applications with the possibility of displaying
proportional thumbs, but applications will need to be updated to take
advantage of the new feature. Among applications included with Mac OS 8.5,
so far only the Finder uses this feature. Smart Scroll provides
proportional thumbs for "the rest of apps", without updating applications!

Smart Scroll communicates with Kaleidoscope so scrollbars using the new
color schemes can be proportional and have active scrolling! Smart Scroll
is also designed to cooperate with DoubleScroll 2.1.2 and 2.2 by Ed Voas (
now superseded by Kaleidoscope 2.x). Note: On Mac OS 8.5 and 8.5.1 Smart
Scroll 3.5 is compatible with Kaleidoscope 2.1.2 or better.

This control panel works on any Mac introduced since 1990, running System 7.
0 through Mac OS 8.5.1

This is a revision of my Solar System Icon Set. This set contains
44 icons of planets, their satellites, comets, the sun and asteriods.
More satellites of Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter are added. The black-
backgound was removed.

MacOS8.5 is required for viewing the icons. This set is also the
itemware, meaning that you need to do one of following for me:

1. a beautiful postcard of your home town or country.
2. a donation to your local charity.
3. a breathtaking picture of your country.
4. to recycle or reuse 5 items (e.g. bottles, cans, packing materials.)

Subject: [*] ACE! 1.4.1 - an extendable save game editor

ACE! allows you to edit the 'save game' documents created by many
commercial and shareware games (these documents are referred to as
'characters' by some games). Additionally, ACE! allows you to print details
of these save games.

Initially, you can edit the save games from Abuse, Bard's Tale, Curse of
Dragor, Damage Incorporated, Doom (1, 2 and Ultimate), Escape Velocity
(standard and Override), Foobar vs the DEA, Harry the Handsome Executive,
Heroes of Might & Magic, Jewel of Arabia - Dreamers, King's Bounty, Mantra,
Marathon (1, 2, Infinity, Excalibur and Evil), Might and Magic (1, 2 and
3), Omega (version 0.75 and 0.80), Pathways into Darkness, Realmz, Ultima
III, Unlimited Adventures (design passwords and characters), Wizardry Gold
and Yipe! III. However, ACE! can be extended to edit other save games
through the use of plug-in 'modules'.

ACE! is freeware.

ACE! will run on any Macintosh or MacOS compatible computer. It requires
System 7.0 or higher, 350k of disc space, and 384k of free RAM (prefered
1500k).

Version 1.4.1 adds a new module for Jewel of Arabia - Dreamers and fixes a
couple of bugs.

Permission is given for this archive to be included on the Info-Mac CD rom.

Subject: [*] ASCII Converter

ASCII converter - is a simple "drag and drop" application that converts
text files from Windows to Macintosh. MacOS and Windows use two different
ASCII tables (a way to represent the characters) so when you open a Windows
text file with a Mac application all the characters like: =E8,=E0,=E9,=F9,=
=EC,=F2 etc.
are misinterpreted. ASCII converter fixs this drawback and enable you to
correctly read the text file. To convert a file, drag it over the ASCII
converter icon until highlighted and release the mouse button. ASCII
converter will create a new text file in the same directory of the original
file.

Subject: [*] Ball & Stick 3.7.5b1 demo

This is an updated demo version of the Macintosh only molecular graphics
application Ball & Stick (aka B&S). This update fixes a recently discovered
incompatibility of previous versions with MacOS 8.5.1 (it did not occur
with MacOS 8.5). Since this update does contain some substantial changes in
the inner workings of the program and has only briefly been tested, it has
to be considered beta-software and handled with appropriate caution.

The demo version is limited to 40 atoms, prints banners across exported
graphics and is 68K code only (runs in emulation on PowerPCs). The full
version supports 2 x 32K atoms and is fully native (accelerated for
PowerPC).

EjectDisk is an extremely useful application/extension combination. With
the touch of a key, you can eject any removable media from your computer,
ranging from the humble floppy to the latest Jaz cartridge. EjectDisk is
similar to the Command-Y function of the Finder in function only--unlike
that command, EjectDisk can evict storage from your desktop from within any
program, and you don't have to select the disk beforehand.

EjectDisk can also eject any CDs still in the computer when the computer is

This version fixes problems with PowerPC Macs running System 8 or later. It
also adds support for IDE devices (CD-ROMs and Jaz/Zip drives).

Multiple threaded execution and a proprietary virtual memory scheme
form the foundation for Jade 1.2, one of the most versatile JPEG
viewers available for the Macintosh. By utilizing these unique
features, Jade can view JPEGs with amazing speed while maintaining
a small memory footprint.

Unlike most other Mac JPEG viewers, Jade uses the cross platform JPEG
library supplied by the Independent JPEG Group and as a consequence is
much more tolerant of corrupted JPEGs. In addition, it allows Jade to
view images at full size and allows Jade to support the latest JPEG
features (like Progressive JPEG encoding).

To top it off, Jade goes beyond traditional image viewers, allowing
users to route images to multiple folders or applications on the fly.

Other features of Jade include:

-- Support for PICT, GIFf, BMP, and TIFF image formats
-- Slideshow
-- Indexing

new in 1.2:

-- TIFF support
-- Ability to change Finder labels
-- Jade now remembers the size and position of the Filing window
-- Virtual memory scheme now supports asynchronous writes
-- Many other features, performance improvements, and bug fixes

Jade requires 68020 (or higher) or PowerPC, Thread Manager or
system 7.5 (or later) and is Freeware.

Subject: [*] Math/Statistics Program: Regression 2.1

Regression 2.1 is an easy-to-use regression analysis program. Data sets can
be fitted to linear, logarithmic, exponential, or power equations.
Regression 2.1 also computes the relative strength of each fit. Using the
model predicted, the check feature will return values of x or y based on
the equation. Unlike expensive statistical analysis programs, Regression
has a simple, easy-to-use interface, meaning you won't have to spend hours
in front of a complex manual.

Regression was originally a product of BattleAxe Software, which merged
with Enterprise Software in May 1998 to form TriVectus.

Version 2.1 reflects the change to TriVectus ownership, and makes numerous
improvements internally, cleans up the interface a bit, and moves the
entire code base to the PowerPC processor.

Requirements:
  * Mac OS 8 or higher

Regression is shareware, priced at $15 for a single-user license.

Subject: [*] PNG Prime Number Generator

A very small, program written in c that finds prime numbers up to 2^32-1
numbers long (have to wait awhile), freeware. (Just for curiosity or
academic purposes)

The faster your machine the faster it finds the primes, if anyone
decides to make a prime number generator out of assembly code for the
Mac I'd like a copy of the program for testing.

If you have suggestions, code, or other info for future development let
me know.

Next release should have an ability to output primes to a separate file.
It also looks to see if any primes turn out even, and so far out of
12,000 primes it hasn't found any.

Subject: [*] SchemeChecker 1.4.3 - Kaleidoscope 1.x and 2.x scheme utility

When Greg Landweber released Kaleidoscope 1.5, he started supporting third
party color schemes. This made it possible for anybody to make their own
schemes and change their MacOS interface completely. But, unfortunately, not
all scheme designers are careful enough to make sure their schemes are bug
free.

To help scheme authors create schemes that had less bugs and would run more
smoothly, SchemeChecker was released. SchemeChecker runs several tests on
your schemes, to make sure you haven't omitted any crucial resources, or
added resources that aren't used at all.

Starting with version 1.4, SchemeChecker is fully compatible with the new,
complex scheme format in Kaleidoscope 2.x schemes. SchemeChecker also allows
schemes built for earlier versions of Kaleidoscope to contain the new
Kaleidoscope 2.x resources, such as desktop patterns, window colors or
cursors, as long as the resource IDs or functionality don't overlap.

SchemeChecker enables you to check all the schemes in any folder (including
subfolders), just one scheme or several schemes which can be selected from a
list. The results can easily be exported to a TEXT file which you can open
in any text editor.

Recent changes to SchemeChecker
-------------------------------
1.4.3 - Jan 17, 1999
   * The support for file/folder icons used in MacOS 8.5 was improved.

1.4 - 1.4.2:
   * Support is added for the new resources introduced in Kaleidoscope
     2.1.1 and MacOS 8.5.
   * SchemeChecker now does a better job at checking schemes configured
to be used only with Kaleidoscope 2.0 or later. It also allows
schemes built for earlier versions of Kaleidoscope to contain the
new Kaleidoscope 2.0 resources in areas where the resource IDs
     don't overlap.
   * Kaleidoscope now checks the "Minimum Kaleidoscope version" entry in
the Colr ID 129 resource for errors.
   * You can now make SchemeChecker automatically fix any unset System
     Heap and Purgeable bits.
   * When you select a different scheme in the Result window, the dis-
played information no longer reverts to the "further info" field.
   * misc. bug fixes and improvements

Subject: [*] SmartKeys 3.4.1

SmartKeys 3.4.1 is a shareware control panel designed to help you type.
SmartKeys does this in four ways. First, SmartKeys automatically corrects
typing that violates conventional typesetting rules, such as typing more
than one consecutive space. Second, SmartKeys automatically corrects fast
typing errors, words that are often misspelled, such as "teh" for "the"
and "THe" for "The". Third, it can require modifiers to engage the Caps
Lock and the Help key, making them more difficult to press inadvertently.
Finally, in case of a system crash, SmartKeys can keep a log of what was
typed.

Version 3.4 fixes a crashing but in the control panel under 3.3.1 and
adds forward deletion to keyboards without such a key. (3.4.1 fixes a bug
3.4.)

'Midi','ULAW', 'sfil', 'BINA', sounds inside Movies ('MooV'), CD Audio
tracks ('trak') and, at last, plays 'snd ' resources inside whatever file!
But the strength of The Musician is its scanning ability: it may explore
your HDs, CDs, folders, diskettes, files, searching for sounds to play. For
example you may drag your disks on The Musician then continuing your normal
work: The Musician will play, asynchronously and in background, any file of
above that will find.
According to your setting The Musician can play any sound immediately or
after your consent, in this last case, whenever founds 'snd ' resources
inside a file, it also conveys you how many sounds the file contains.
In addition you may instruct The Musician to collect aliases of sound
files, while it's playing, so you may enjoy them, when you want, without
perform another search.
The main window has a simple bar that meters the input level of the
microphone, you may disable the bar through the preferences.
At last The Musician may show the QuickTime=81 keyboard (for your fun!) and
record new sounds in 'sfil' or 'AIFF' format.
The Musician is Internet Config, Drag Manager and Navigation Manager aware,
moreover it's Appearance savvy. It requires at least System 7 to run and
uses QuickTime=81 to play some kind of files.

Trilite - is a shareware game similar to tic-tac-toe, but much more fun and
challenging. The object is to get three adjacent squares set to your color.
These
squares may be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. On your turn, click on any
empty square to fill it with your color. Sound simple enough? Well, here's the
trick: you may only have three squares occupied at a time. Once you click on a
fourth square, the first one you selected becomes empty again, allowing your
opponent to make a surprise move. You may play against another person or a
computer player (with two levels of difficulty). The awesome sound effects were
created by Jens Nilsson at Fadeout Studios. Requires Mac OS 7.0 or higher and
1024K RAM. Color monitor recommended.

Subject: [*] Twistory 1.3 - History Browser

Twistory 1.3

"Twistory" is a history browser. It displays the lifetimes and
travels of historical figures, and dates and locations of historical
events. It is a tool for keeping track of when and where things happened,
and their relationships to each other. It is meant to provide a way to
keep track of the multitude of different peoples, dynasties, empires and
developments throughout history. It answers questions like, "What else was
happening in the world at that time?" and "Did A live at the same time as
B, or before?" A resource of over 1600 people, events and places is
included. The database has an open text format, so that more historical
information can be added by any user. A complete description of the file
format is included.

The two main windows are the time-line window, which shows lives and
events against a variable time scale, and the map window, which shows
people and events in their geographic locations during an interval of time.
There is also a genealogy window which shows the ancestors and descendants
of the selected person, and an info window that shows additional details
about the person or event. A "This Day in History" window lists all
milestones occurring on a particular day of the year. It now also has a
"Find" window.

Version 1.3 fixes two significant bugs: one which could cause the
program to quit unexpectedly, and one which made printing impossible.
Version 1.2 introduced user-defined "People" and "Events" menus, including
full control over occupation and event type definitions and their icons.

Twistory is a FAT binary, and requires system 7. It uses about 4.5 Mb
of disk space, and needs about 2 Mb of RAM to run comfortably. With a
large monitor or with several windows open, 4 Mb is better.

Twistory is $10 (US or CAN) shareware. You may evaluate it for free.
If you wish to buy it, you may send the payment to the address included
with the program. If you desire support, please send your e-mail address
along, and I will write back. This program is free for all users who have
registered a previous version of it.
