Subject: [*] ][2Mac v1.2.8

][2Mac is a set of 3 applications, 1 for the Mac and 2 for the Apple-][,
that allow you to backup and restore Apple-][ floppies to/from a Mac.
The floppy-image is stored on the Mac in a format that is recognized by
IIe, the Apple //e emulator for the Mac, written by Victor and Vincent Tan
(see: http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~vtan/sw/index.html).

One of the users of ][2Mac even reported, that he has successfully
transferred DOS 3.3-, ProDOS- as well as Pascal-formatted disks from
his Apple //e to his Mac, and that he is using the diskimages now
on his Mac, in the IIgs emulator called 'Bernie ][ the Rescue'
(see: http://www.magnet.ch/emutech/Bernie/).

Also... ][2Mac enables you to use a Macintosh to send out and receive
Apple-][-disks to and from your friends over the internet...

version history:
24-jan-1999, v1.2.8
-Implemented menu-options to convert IIe-documents to ][2Mac-documents and back
-The Apple-][ program will try better to read the first track (17) of the
floppy. This
is done because the original Apple-][ drives sometimes need that
-Added a way to generate a user-defined (registered versions only)
configuration-line
when downloading Applesoft-programs to the Apple-][. This means that
users don't
have to redefine their settings again after downloading a newer version
(see the
  Special menu)

Austronaut Plugins for Sherlock

Here are two plugins for Apple's new Sherlock search program that comes
with Mac OS 8.5. It allows you to use Sherlock to search the Austrian WWW
directory "Austronaut", which is situated at http://www.austronaut.com/.

One plugin will only search for sites located in Austria, the other is
for worldwide searches (obviously you will only use one of them at a
time, as the worldwide plugin will also return all Austrian sites).

The plugins can be distributed freely and included on all non-profit
CD-ROMs.

This plugin and other software by my humble self can be downloaded from
http://aardvark.magnet.at/software/

To install, drag the "AustronautAustria.src" and "AustronautWorld.src"
files onto your System Folder icon. You will be asked if you want to put
it into your "Internet Search Sites" folder. Click "OK". That's it.

The files will update themselves automatically if newer versions become
available.

Heart Calc is a simple application for the Macintosh for use with a Heart Rate
monitor, such as one of the Polar range. It overcomes the problem that most
exercise programmes express intensity of exercise as a percentage of maximum
heart rate, while most heart rate monitors must be programmed as an absolute
number of heart beats per second, based on the user's resting and maximum heart
rates.

Subject: [*] JustMailPromo.sit

JustMail is a quick and modern client that gives you access to your email
anytime, anywhere -- right in any Web browser. It's ideal for a person who
travels and for anyone who uses more than one computer. JustMail is not an
email service but rather utilizes your existing email account. This approach
results in increased privacy and security compared to Web-based email
services. Your personal data is never requested and your email name and
password are never stored or entrusted to a third party!

JustMail is a Java applet that resides on a Web page and offers a snappy
application-type email interface similar to Microsoft Outlook Express(tm)
and other popular email applications. There is no page refresh between
messages or any of the other limitations of a clumsy HTML-based interface.
JustMail displays email in a free-floating window allowing continued Web
browsing while reading and sending email. JustMail is fast and responsive.
Reading a series of messages is quickly done by simply selecting from an
email message list or by using the up or down arrow keys. The Just Mail
applet is only 29 KB in size and downloads quickly, even on relatively slow
modems.

based on software developed by IBM Corp. as part of the IBM Research
Jikes Compiler Project, http://www.ibm.com/research/jikes. MacJikes
v1.0 contains parts of Jikes Version 0.41 (01 Dec 98).

MacJikes's core is a Java compiler that conforms strictly to the Java
language specification. "javac" is written in java itself, so its
speed is dependant on the speed of your Java virtual machine, as well
as your hardware. MacJikes is completely written in C++, so by being
compiled natively for PowerPC and 68k, it runs multiple times faster
than "javac"!

The current version of MacJikes as a standalone application currently
has only a command line interface. A GUI is on the way. This release
is a working proof of concept and is being made available so you can
experience it under MacOS.

Available versions:
    MPW Tool for 68k
    MPW Tool for PowerPC
    Standalone application for 68k
    Standalone application for PowerPC
    Command line builder applet

Subject: [*] MultiMode 1.5.4

MultiMode 1.5.4 is an application which allows your Macintosh to decode
several different modes of non-voice communication often heard on shortwave
radio.

MultiMode allows you to decode and display morse code, RTTY, fax, and many
other modes on your Mac, without any extra hardware! MultiMode now also
allows you to send morse code.

In the past, dedicated hardware, often costing hundreds or thousands of
dollars, was necessary to demodulate and decode this transmissions. Today,
you can use the processing power of your Macintosh to decode and display
these modes, without any hardware.

MultiMode decodes the following signals:

       Morse Code (CW)
       RTTY (Baudot)
       ASCII
       SITOR-A
       SITOR-B / FEC / NAVTEX
       WEATHER / SATELLITE FAX
       ACARS
       WWVB Time Decode
       DTMF
Audio Spectrum Display to aid in properly tuning in stations

New to this version:
Some bugs introduced in version 1.5.0 are fixed. These bugs can cause
crashes under MacOS 8.5 or later, or when running Virtual Memory or
RamDoubler.

Subject: [*] Nu Sans 3.2 PostScript font - A scalable Espy Serif

Nu Serif version 3.2; January 23, 1999; by Martin P. Pfeiffer.

Nu Serif is a font family that brings Apple Computer's "Espy Serif" bitmap
font to the printed page.

Features:
--Includes the Euro Symbol
--You can use Nu Serif at any point size--without getting the jaggies.
--The registered version includes bold, italic and bold italic--great for
  web browsing.
--Nu Serif, with it's high x-height, is a very readable font, on-screen and
  on the printed page
--It's a great companion font for Nu Sans.

About the Nu Serif font family:
Nu Serif is based on Apple Computer's "Espy Serif" bitmap font. Espy Serif
is a font designed by Apple's Human Interface people for easy readability on
computer screens. This bitmap font is used in the Apple Guide screens. It is
a serif companion for Espy Sans. In my opinion (and in the opinion of a lot
of my registered users :-), this is the most readable and legible font
combination for on-screen use.

Now you can use Espy Serif on your printer as well as at many different
point sizes on screen. This flexibility allows you to use Nu Serif anywhere
you want. And with the addition of the other three fonts: bold, italic and
bold italic--available only to registered users--Nu Serif makes a perfect
all around font. Studies have shown that for prolonged reading, serif fonts
are much easier to read than sans serif. But up till now, most serif fonts
have not been optimized for on-screen use. Nu Serif changes all this, by
being easy on the eyes on-screen and on the printed page.

PhotoCat is the best tool for working quickly and efficiently with a
large database of pictures. It's also the ideal tool to put one's holiday
pictures in order.

PhotoCat Player is the companion program of PhotoCat 2. It allows to
distribute catalogs created with the latter. PhotoCat Player must be
copied on the user's hard disk because it will not run on a locked disk.
The program and the help files are about 3.3 Mo. Nevertheless the catalog
can stay on a CD-ROM or on a network's shared disk. Installing PhotoCat
Player on a hard disk will not add any file except the files into the
"PhotoCat Player 1.x" folder and a preference file.

SmallMines - There are mines hidden in a minefield. Clicking on a tile will
uncover its contents. It could be a mine, or a number. If it's a mine, then
you've blown up the mine in the minefiled (you've lost). A number tells you how
many mines surround the tile you just clicked on. If it's blank, then it means
that there are no surrounding mines. If you know where a mine is, then you can
hold down the control, command, or option key to plant a flag. If you planted a
flag in error, you can unplant the flag the same way you planted it. You
win this
game by uncovering all the tiles that don't have mines underneath.

This program is a version of the I Ching. For centuries the I Ching has

Each drop determines one line of a hexagram, whether it is solid or

interpreted.

New in version 2.0:
