Subject: [*] 3D-Box

3D-Box

* Requirements:
PPC, 6 MB RAM,
MacOS 7.55 and up, (8.0 and before also need the Appearance manager; info
at the website)

* Description:

3DBox is an application that creates boxes in OBJ format and matching
texture map templates as PICTs. You give the heigth, width and length of
the box and decide in which resolution you would like to get the texture
map.
The created models can be used in any 3D program that supports OBJ import
and parametric mapping of textures.
3DBox provides the option to leave gaps at certain edges in the texture
map, so you can create completely different designs for the different sides
of your box without getting the usual inaccuracies at the edges of the box.

* Further notices:

3D-Box may be included in commercially available CD-ROM of the archives.

Subject: [*] AppSwitcherControl1.1

Description:
AppSwitcher Control is a handy application which allows you to customize
the appearance and behavior of the Application Switcher in Mac OS 8.5.
AppSwitcher Control is free.

Requirements:
AppSwitcher Control requires a PowerPC Macintosh running Mac OS 8.5.

Version History:
v1.0 1998-09-17
- Initial Release. My first Macintosh application ever.

v1.1 1998-09-21
- Revised layout of options using more visual elements. Eliminated popup menus.
- Added miniature representation of the screen which allows you to visually
set position, orientation, and grow direction, all at once.
- Added ability to edit name width. Click the arrows to increment or
decrement by 10 pixels. Shift-click to increment or decrement by 1 pixel.
- Added ability to order by name or launch order, normal or reverse.
- AppSwitcher Control now reads the Application Switcher's settings only
the first time you launch it. When you quit AppSwitcher Control, it saves
your settings to its own preferences file. From then on, it reads settings
from its preferences file at launch. This results in much faster launch
times.
- AppSwitcher Control now does a better job of loading the existing settings.
- AppSwitcher Control now remembers which tab was frontmost when you last
used the application.
- Added balloon help for just about everything.
- General cleanup of the internal workings of the app.

Subject: [*] AutoShare 3.0, a freeware list server

AutoShare is a robust and speedy list server and auto-responder for the
Macintosh. Available for both 68K and Power Macs, requiring little memory
and tested with Mac OS 8.1, AutoShare can handle hundreds of mailing lists
and thousands of subscribers for each list. Full scriptability is
supported, and an Admin application with balloon help makes it easy to
configure the richly featured server application.

The AutoShare archive comes complete with script samples and documentation
covering features such as multiple preference sets, standard and database
subscriber formats, fully automated web archives, remote administration by
email, multiple language support for subscribers, subscriber and
administrator web forms and advanced mail-back confirmations. AutoShare is
the only Macintosh list server offering a built-in automated bounce and
unsubscribe module, supporting both hard and soft bounces. It can be used
to launch external applications and includes built-in Cron support. Process
extenders, often small AppleScript applications, allow the administrator to
extend the AutoShare server's normal processing.

Version 3.0 introduces two database formats for subscribers as its major
feature and furthermore offers support for list-specific languages for
subscribers, MIME digests as attachments, additional commands for remote
administration by e-mail and support for more bounce formats plus minor
improvements and bug fixes. The AutoShare web site at
<http://www.dnai.com/~meh/autoshare/> offers information on releases and
discussion lists.

2. I don't want all my bookmarks linked to any particular application -

Subject: [*] Color Picker Pro 2.5.0

Color Picker Pro is a small drag and drop savvy application that aids in
finding color hex values for use with HTML production. Color Picker Pro is
more than just a RGB to hex converter however! It can literally pull
colors out of windows, icons and Desktop backgrounds. If you can't find a
color that you're interested in using the former method, you can just as
easily utilize any of your System-level color pickers a la the Color Picker
Pro application. Once you've found the color you want, you're only a
click, menu choice or key combination away from pasting your hex value into
any text-based HTML editor. Color Picker Pro will also allow you to store
frequently used colors, undo and redo color changes as well as finding the
nearest Netscape 216 Palette color.

System requirements:
* System 7.5
* Power Macintosh
* Drag and Drop Functionality
* 16 or 32 bit color preferred

Subject: EasySwitcherV1.0 Switch Between/Hide Applications With Hot Keys

EasySwitcher 1.0

If you are tired of always moving the mouse to the upper right of the screen
to change between open files, or to hide open applications, EasySwitcher can
help. EasySwitcher allows for Macintosh users to have the one good feature
of Windows users (plus a few things you can't do on a Windows machine). By
pressing Control-Tab you will get a Dialog that shows all your applications
that are running (Icons). You can toggle through your applications to bring
that application to the front.

Easy Switcher doesn't stop there!

* EasySwitcher is NOT an Extension. Thus, it can be started and stopped
like an
application at anytime (without having to restart your machine).

* EasySwitcher 'Watches' what applications you are using, and keeps them
only a few key
strokes away. So that Switching between 2 applications is quick and
easy.

* EasySwitcher even has a hot key to Hide the front application. This helps
keep your
   desktop clean from cluttered windows.

 System Requirements:
* System 7.1 or Later.

    FALCON-NC vers 2.0.0 RPN/Algeabraic Scientific calculator.

This is not your ordinary calculator. It's a true RPN and ALGEABRIC
calculator in the same package. You can even switch mode right in the
middle of a problem solving sequence. It has superior formatting of results
( 30=B0 23' 43" ) and even automatic ISO and US delimiter setting. (if you
use a coma in entering a number it use it as the delimiter, the same for
the period )
With this calculator you have on-the-fly base conversion, mixed base
arithmetic, unsigned numbers conversion, and more. The application has
been tested with machines from MacPlus and MAC OS 6.0.2 up to Mac OS 8.1
and the newest PowerBook G3 machines.
The Financial mode has automatic features that simplify the calculation
of the basic financial function of Interest, Present Value, Future Value
and Payments. It even has Canadian Mortgage calculation functions.
It has been updated and tested to work on the latest G3 machine (
PowerBook 233 ). This application works as well with the older Mac like
the Plus and the SE.
The calculator has automatic continuous memory of 2000 registers. There
is also a lot of shortcuts for the various modes of the calculator.

Subject: [*] Gantt Chart for FMPro

Here is a freeware contribution, a FileMaker Pro solution to the challenge
of charting, as bars graphed over time, a series of events, across a page
beginning at the left side with the earliest beginning time and ending with
the latest ending time of any of the bars. This, (so I have been told) is
called a Gantt chart. This, (so I have also been told, after posting
exasperated questions in this very venue), is something you just can't DO
in Excel. There are charting solutions out there, apparently, that will,
and probably they would willingly snatch up exported data from other
applications, but I didn't feel like shelling out for another program just
for this one capability, and probably a few other folks feel the same way.

The interface is simple: each bar (item) is a record; create a new record,
enter start date, end date (in its current form it does not accept time
entries as opposed to date entries, although since it isn't
password-protected you are welcome to modify the field defs), go to next
entry, and when completed run the Set Overall Duration script (visible in
the Script menu) that will calculate the earliest start date and latest end
date in order to graph the collection as a Gantt chart.

The enclosed file comes equipped with global color fields allowing the user
to set a different color for each entry, selectable via a drop-down menu.

The file is easily scriptable from other FMPro solutions: create new
record assumes an item name is in the clipboard, and if a relationship is
defined on the basis of that item name, you can assign start and end dates
from afar, and end by calling the script that figures minimum start date
and maximum end date and prints or displays the resultant graph.

Using FileMaker import, you can also begin with a spreadsheet or
tab-delimited textfile consisting of item name, start date, end date.

This solution is a CPU exerciser; you can watch it draw each row's bar on a
300MHz G3 (12-15 second screen draw), and on a IIci you find yourself
anticipating the result of each pseudopixel thereof as it is calculated (go
get a cup of coffee).

272K (at least on my HD), requires FileMaker Pro 3.x or higher,
cross-platform insofar as I can tell.

Subject: [*] GrooveMaker1.1

GrooveMaker+Dancity is actually a combination of two products: the
GrooveMaker software and the Dancity sample collection.
The GrooveMaker is the first groove generator based on a powerful sample
layering engine with huge pre-grouped loop sample libraries called
"songs." Now it's fast and simple to create instant, hi-quality dance
music. With the GrooveMaker, you can play, mix and randomize your own
grooves on the fly, with instantaneous control over 8 stereo loop tracks,
in real-time! Separate volume and pan controls, solo and mute buttons are
at your disposal giving you an intuitive environment to create stunning
grooves. And you can even add your own samples! Shift the tempos (+/-20%)
just like a DJ in a live situation. With the randomization feature, you'll
discover endless loop combinations to keep your sound fresh. Every
combination you hear can be saved on the fly, or marked inside the program
for instant recall.
A Virtual Synth Arpeggiator is also included to give your performance that
rave impact! With 99 sounds and more than 128 presets, a synth snapshot
feature and "smart-notes!"
With the GrooveSequencer you can assemble your marked grooves in a sequence
list with one click. Now you have a full-length song which you can either
mix to your hard disk (as a complete stereo file) or save as eight
individual stereo tracks for subsequent mixing on your hard disk recording
system. But if you think that's quick and easy, check this out . . .
. . . the fastest way to make not one, but millions, of different songs is
with the V-Mix. Here a VIRTUAL DJ instantly assembles 4 random mixes with a
simple click. That's it! And every time you click again, another random
song set is generated. Get hours and hours of instant remixes and never
hear the same thing twice. When you hear something you particularly like,
save it, or just let it run and groove for you all night long.
The Dancity sample collection includes... 504 studio-quality remixable loop
samples (from 98 to 180 bpm) pre-grouped in 8 songs, that can combine to
produce more than 80 million different grooves using the GrooveMaker=AA
soundware engine. Choose from Techno, House, Progressive, EuroDance,
Jungle, Trash, and more. A huge variety of instrumental loops including
Bass, Bass-Drum, FX, Loop, Line, Pad and Percussion, plus Vocals, with
incredibly rich sounds created from massive state-of-the-art gear. A 99
sound, 3 octave virtual synth with more than 3,000 sound events is also
included for real-time performances. All samples are available as 22 and
44kHz, 16 bit files. Studio ready, and Royalty Free! And more loop
collections are just available!

Power Windows 2.0.4 -- October 4, 1998
by Greg Landweber, coauthor of Kaleidoscope

The Power Windows control panel lets you drag entire windows instead
of dotted outlines. It offers both solid and translucent window dragging
and is the only such utility to support the Finder's popup windows (aka
tabbed windows) introduced in Mac OS 8.

Version 2.0.4 is now compatible with Mac OS 8.5. It also offers various
minor fixes and improvements, including fixes for two bugs introduced
in the short-lived version 2.0.3.

The shareware fee is $10 (registered users of 1.x can upgrade for $5;
registered users of version 2.x do not need to pay an upgrade fee).

Subject: [*] ShockBox Version 1.0.2

What is it?
ShockBox is an Internet and desktop "audio" browser that allows you to listen to
Shockwave "streaming" audio located on the Internet and on your hard drive.
ShockBox's Internet abilities allow you to connect to different ShockBox Servers
then build custom playlists. You can then shuffle your playlists and play them
back. "Streaming" sound begins playing while it is still downloading. ShockBox's
streaming capabilities provide almost instant playback of high-quality audio,
even for users with 28.8 modem connections to the Internet. ShockBox requires
less computer memory to function than the average Web browser with audio
plug-ins
and ShockBox will run satisfactorily when connected to the Internet with a 56
modem connection. New in Version 1.0.2! Your entire music library is instantly
available on your computer! With ShockBox, high fidelity music can be played
wherever the user takes his/her laptop. Large stacks of physical CDs stay
conveniently and safely at home. ShockBox now allows you play music CDs in
highly
compressed CD-quality Shockwave audio on your hard drive or local hard drive.
Compress your audio, label your audio files with the suffix ".swa" and drop them
in a folder labeled with the CD title and you're ready to create customized
playlists for playback. Plus, drop a JPEG image of the CD cover into the same
folder and view the CD image while you listen to the CD audio tracks! System
Requirements: PowerPC Macintosh (100mhz minimum recommended) with 4MB
memory. You
must have Internet access to use ShockBox Internet abilities. It is recommend
that you have a 56 modem connection or higher when using the Internet abilities
of ShockBox.

Subject: [*] Smile 1.5.2, a free AppleScript editor

Smile is a free, PPC-only, text and script editor for AppleScript. It
supports applets and droplets.

With respect to other editors, Smile works in a new fashion. The text
windows behave like a shell for AppleScript. Pressing the Enter key
executes (or just compiles, if there is nothing to execute) the current
line or the selected text; the result is appended to the text, or
redirected to the "Result" window. Variables and handlers you have
compiled in a text window remain available until you quit. Smile can be
used as a debugger. You write and test scripts line by line. You drag
chunks from a script, including the properties and handlers it needs, and
test them in a text window.

Moreover, Smile comes with AppleScript additions: list and string
utilities, coercions, script handling, resource reading and writing, math
functions, data publishing etc.

Most of these additions are also included in a Scripting Addition, the
Satimage osax, which is part of the Smile package. You can use the
Satimage osax independently of Smile.

Smile has a User Scripts menu. Each item launches the corresponding
script stored in the "User scripts" folder.

To edit and save scripts, you use the script windows. Like the text
windows they support "Find" and "Compare".

Smile is also a scriptable text editor, supporting color and styled text.

Power users can build quickly a full interface with Smile. Text and
script windows can be equipped with scriptable buttons. Smile has
scriptable dialogs. You first freely design a dialog with some resource
editor. Then, in Smile, you attach to it the script which will handle its
behavior. Lastly you write, where suitable, the script which will launch
the dialog.

Subject: [*] Un-SourceSafe Abstract

Un-SourceSafe 1.0
User's Guide

=A91998 Michael Amorose
All Rights Reserved Worldwide.

What is it?

Un-SourceSafe is a Macintosh application which removes the info that
Microsoft's Visual SourceSafe adds to any files you add to a SourceSafe
database. On the Macintosh, Metrowerk's Visual SourceSafe Client usually
adds a 'ckid' resource and sets the file's Finder label color to green or
red. Un-SourceSafe strips this information.

How do I use it?

How many times have you wanted to open a file which has been added to a
SourceSafe database, but not checked out, only to be told that "This file
is read-only"? Pretty frustrating, isn't it? Well, just drop a file, group
of files, or combination of files and folders onto Un-SourceSafe and it
will remove all that nasty info any make any files dropped onto it "normal"
again. But beware that if you do this, SourceSafe can no longer determine
the file's checkout or revision status!

There are two versions of the app: one is named "Un-SourceSafe G3" - this
version should only be run on G3-based Macs. The other version is simply
named "Un-SourceSafe". This version is for all other non-G3-based PowerPC
Macs.

Limitations

Un-SourceSafe can only modify files nested 100 levels deep. If you have a
folder with more than 100 sub folders, you will have to split the drop up
into fewer levels, drop the individual folders onto Un-SourceSafe and then
move the folders back. In addition, the maximum number of items that can be
changed in any given folder in one drop is 1000. Due to memory
limitations, you cannot drop disks onto Un-SourceSafe.

How much is it?

Un-SourceSafe is free and you can freely distribute it as long as this
document accompanies it and you do not sell it or include it in any product
that you charge for.

Un-SourceSafe is a PowerPC-only and so runs only on PowerPC-based Macs.
