Welcome to bevark, a scheme for Kaleidoscope 2.1.1 or later. It's a
demi-minimalist scheme (which is a pretentious term I've just invented),
and it's grey. It relies on the OS to supply it's icons, but it does work
in a friendly fashion with OS 8.5. Oh, and bevark is so free you might
wonder where the catch is.

Subject: [*] Kineticon 1.4.2 - animated icons on your desktop!

Kinetic Creations, Inc announces the release of Kineticon 1.4.2!

Kineticon brings your Mac's motionless icons to life!

Kineticon is a system extension which replaces normal, static icons on your
Macintosh's desktop and in its windows with chosen animated icons.

Kineticon is fully configurable, allowing you to choose which icons should
animate simply by enabling them within Kineticon's editor.

Kineticon Editor (included in the Kineticon package) allows you to create
custom animations which can be made to appear in place of any icon
displayed by your Macintosh.

With Kineticon you will have THE COOLEST hard drive icon on your block!
With Kineticon you will have THE CUTEST trash can icon in your neighborhood!

And remember, if you don't like the included animations, you can easily
make your own!

Changes in version 1.4.2 from 1.4.1:
* Fixed bugs introduced in 1.4 and 1.4.1 related to the support for 32-bit
icons on older systems.
* Fixed a bug which could cause the editor to crash.
* Better handling of low-memory situations in the editor.

System requirements:
* Any Macintosh with at least a 68020 processor (both 68K and PowerPC Macs
are supported).
* System 7.5 or higher.
* Color (doesn't work in grayscale or black and white, sorry).
* Free RAM: at least 300K. More RAM is needed depending on how many
animating icons are enabled.
* 2 MB of hard drive space (for the extension, editor and animating icon
files).
* Faster Macs (such as PowerMacs) are recommended.

License:
This is a fully-working (not crippled) 14-day, trial version which may be
converted to a normal, non-trial version for $12.

MacBreadboard is a Digital Electronics Breadboarding Simulator.
It has a very unique interface in which you "move" chips & wires on a
virtual breadboard. MacBreadboard and WinBreadboard (the PC version) are
used in many colleges and universities around the world. It's ideal for
prototyping designs on the computer before going into the lab, or in
situations where using actual breadboards is not practical for some reason.
The Full product includes 78 simulated TTL chips and it can even display
timing diagrams.

MacPipes 2.2.6

What is MacPipes?
Classic arcade puzzle in which you have to connect a
certain number of pipes of various shapes before the
timer runs out and water starts to flow. If you connect
the required number of pipes, you progress to the next
level of the game. Extra points are awarded for connecting
more pipes than needed, as well as for making loops in your
pipeline.

Requirements:
68020/030/040 or PowerPC;
1.2 MBytes free memory;
Mac OS 7.0.1 or later;
any monitor supporting 256 colors;
Sound Manager 3.0 or later.

What's new in MacPipes 2.2.6?
Fixed a problem with the count-down timer not working on certain machines.
It was probably the result of 'old fashioned' programming style causing
incompatibilities with the latest hardware/system software configurations.

Installation
The MacPipes package is distributed in form of an "Installer" application.
To install MacPipes just launch the installer and follow the simple
instructions.

Distribution
MacPipes is 5$ shareware.
You can distribute MacPipes freely, provided that you leave the software and
the accompanying documentation unchanged. You can include MacPipes in CD-ROMs
and other software collections only by previous agreement.

Thanks and best regards.

Subject: [*] SwitchRes 1.5.2 - german version

SwitchRes is an extension that allows you to control the resolutions
of all your displays. A Control Panel is joined, which lets you change
its preferences, and a Control Strip Module and a Contextual Menu
extension are bundled. You can change all your resolutions with just
one mouse click on the Finder desktop, or just by pressing one key.

It also allows you to:
----------------------

* use *all* available resolutions of your video cards, not only those
  the MacOS choose for you
* automatically switch resolution and color depth of all monitors when
launching an application, and restore your settings when quitting
* position the desktop icons where you want, at every resolution change
  and at startup
* configure the menus by choosing which resolutions and what bitdepths
will be displayed (Control Strip Module menu, Contextual Menu)

and a lot of other features...

SwitchRes requires MacOS 8, and a multisync monitor may be useful...
Of course, SwitchRes works fine under MacOS 8.5
It is distributed as a $9 shareware, but you can try the application
for 7 days.

What is new in version 1.5.2:
-----------------------------

Version 1.5.2 corrects some bugs, especially the one that prevented
the last used resolution to be applied again after a restart. It should
also be more stable at startup, and shouldn't crash any more when using
an unknown display or video card.

The main new feature is its ability to change the monitor where the
menu bar is shown (in a multiple monitor environment) from within the
control strip, the menu bar or the contextual menu.

SwitchRes now displays the correct texts in the Japanese version, uses
32 bits icons under MacOS 8.5 and shows a proxy icon in the window
title bar.

You can read the 'Read Me' file for a more complete description of all
little bugs that have been corrected.

What was new in version 1.5:

* All SwitchRes menus are definable independently: you can decide to

'V&N Lookup' is an easy-to-use program that puts dictionary-power at your

'Verbs & Nouns' is an application for practising inflection, translation

From: phaedrus@www.quakeintosh.com
Subject: [*] Wadtool: a Quake texture editing utility

NEW TEXTURE EDITING UTILITY GIVES UNPRECEDENTED CONTROL TO QUAKE MAP
DESIGNERS

QUAKEINTOSH, December 2, 1998 -- http://wadtool.quakeintosh.com --
Phaedrus Qtensilius today announced the release of Wadtool, a new
graphics management utility for game developers. Specifically, Wadtool is
a must-have program for users of all abilities who design level maps for
idsoftware's popular game Quake.

Until now, there has been no complete Mac solution for editing Quake
textures (the graphic images which make up the walls and objects in level
maps). Wadtool fills a long-awaited niche, in providing superior control
over all aspects of texture editing. Wadtool unleashes the graphic artist
that lurks within the modeler, providing unprecedented control over the
graphics in all single-player and multi-player Quake maps the user
designs!

The product name derives from its flagship ability to modify WAD files,
the standard format for graphics collections from which most Quake
editing tools (such as Quiver, a map editing utility by Scott Kevill)
obtain their textures. For Wadtool, though, handling WADs is just the tip
of the iceberg.

Wadtool is designed for use in conjunction with other image-editing
programs to allow users to integrate their artistic creations into new
and existing Quake maps. Wadtool's user interface has been designed for
easy, intuitive use while simultaneously providing an array of advanced
tools. Here is a partial sampling of the nifty things the user can do
with Wadtool:

     - edit any number of files at a time (limited only by available
memory)
     - extract the textures from a BSP (map) and convert them into a new
WAD
     - edit the textures in a BSP without having to recompile the map
     - extract all textures from a PAK (total conversion) by simply
opening it
     - resize any texture, with automatic image re-scaling
     - adjust the colour balance of a texture using RGB sliders
     - preview moving textures (liquids, as well as multi-frame
animations)
     - remove unwanted "fullbright" colours with a simple menu command
     - create sky transparencies with a simple menu command
     - use the complete Edit menu suite, including cut, copy, paste and
undo
     - copy textures between files and share them with other programs
     - globally adjust the view brightness to your liking
