Subject: [*] (works w/ AppleScript) NetworkRun 2.1

NetworkRun is a script suite that requires Akua Sweets 1.3,
Dialog Director 0.7, Jon's Commands 2.05, Users and Groups
& XCMD OSAX, plus Speech if you want NetworkRun to use the
Speech Manager. What NetworkRun can do:

--Send messages over the network
--Send messages & getting answers
--Send dummy alert messages (just for fun--with a lot of
options) :-)
--Send the same message to several destinations
--Send the same message to every machine on your network
--Check & delete the contents of a certain folder on any
Mac on your network by name, date, kind, etc.
--Create an evironment report about any Mac on your
network
--Make a Mac beep/flash x times :^}
--And really much more!

NetworkRun works with a real preferences file. It has a
two-level security with a password and/or an enabler
application that can prevent NetworkRun's use. A read me
informs you about the exact use of each function. A Setup
application checks if your Mac is OK to use NetworkRun.

If you are interested in chatting with AppleScript, don't
forget to have a look at NetworkRun Chatter! Also on Info-
Mac.

This new version includes compatibility with Akua Sweets
1.3 (no new features... yet!). NetworkRun works fine with
OS 8.5.1. This is the read-only, faster, smaller version.

Don't forget to send me a short email if you download this
script! You will be told about updates and other free
products. <mailto:jeanph@vossnet.de>

Subject: [*] Extension Overload 3.3

You have noticed those icons that march across your screen when your Mac
starts. Those icons represent extensions and control panels installed in
your system folder. Did you ever wonder what they are or even if they are
needed or useful?

Extension Overload lists 1236 extensions and control panels
(alphabetically), and tells you what each one is there for, what it does
and when it is needed - and also when it is not needed.

This means you can streamline your system folder and make it lean, mean and
fast. You keep the ones that are useful and discard the ones that simply
take up space.

It makes sense to create a machine that isn't "overweight". Such a machine
is more secure, crashes less often and runs a heck of a lot faster.

This release of Extension Overload has information on 1236 Extensions and
Control Panels from System 7, 7.5, 7.6, Mac OS 8, 8.1, 8.5, 8.5.1 and the
iMac. This means you can streamline your system folder and make it lean,
mean and fast. You keep the ones that are useful and discard the ones that
simply take up space. It makes sense to create a machine that isn't
"overweight". Such a machine is more secure, crashes less often and runs a
heck of a lot faster.

Extension Overload is ready to assist you if:

*	you have recurring crashes.
*	you have an extension conflict.
*	you want to make your system use as little RAM as possible.
*	you want to save disk space by deleting unnecessary files.
*	you want to know what all the items in your System Folder do.
*	you are an experienced user who needs a handy reference.
*	you are a novice user who wants to learn his way around the machine.

And there is more to Extension Overload ! ! !

* It contains information about Mac Error Codes.
* It also contains information about Easter Eggs (those special gimmicks
hidden within your software). Most of these are humorous and fun.
* Dozens and dozens of ways to make your Mac go faster, optimizing both
hardware and software. It's fun to take some of these suggestions see how
your machine responds!

Subject: [*] Fonts Manager 3.9.1

Fonts Manager - is similar to the Mac's Extensions Manager, but it manages Fonts
instead. It allows the enabling and disabling of suitcases and printer fonts in
'Sets'. It supports the viewing and printing of font samples, export of 'Sets',
import of saved 'Sets', Balloon Help, and a Tutorial Topics system. It is NOT a
Control Panel or Extension (like ATM D... or Suitca... or Master J...), NOR does
it pretend to be one by living in the Startup Items folder (like Font
R...); thus
it works on ALL Macs with System 7.1 or later, including Mac OS 8.1 (and HFS+),
without modifying the NORMAL startup and operation of your computer. Thousands
worldwide running all kinds of Macs (and clones) have switched to Fonts Manager
to get 'Up & Running'.

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled MULTIPLICATION for Special Learners v3.1.2
NEEDS: Acrobat Reader
=A91995-99 Steven L. Wood

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled MULTIPLICATION for Special Learners is a
unique tool for teaching multiplication computation. It is a sequential,
ground up, approach to multiplication with fact support, much like a
controlled vocabulary in reading. Each page includes fact bars which
present only the facts to be used on the page. Both special learners and
regular education students benefit from its thorough and systematic
approach. Unlike other workbooks, it is published as a computer
document--buy it once, use it forever.

Ninety-nine blackline masters comprise the basic package. Each page
contains a factstrip or factbar presenting and previewing the facts to be
used on the page. Worksheets follow a logical and thorough progression
through the operation of multiplication computation. A similar number of
complete answer sheets is included. Sub-answers are always included, so
teachers may do what they've been trained to do: diagnose and teach.

Presented in the Adobe Portable Document Format, the MATH DITTOS 2 series
now features fast and easy navigation throughout the documents.

New in the PDF 3.1 version
*"No Fact" pages still with restricted facts, but no fact bars. These are
an essential item for checking mastery after specific fact sections in
the regular masters are completed.
*Speed Drill Worksheets are included. Twenty-one pages of fact drill
pages include single and multiple-fact pages that parallel the fact
progression in MD2.
*Small flash card masters are included for duplication and student use.
These are just the right size to fit in a pocket and stand at least a
50-50 chance of actually making it home with your students.
*Large flash card masters. These are ideal for in-front-of-the-class
drill.
The above items were previously included only with the more expensive
ClarisWorks=81 version.

Other Features
*A thorough and logical task analysis of the steps in multiplication is
employed.
*Fact support on all pages of the basic blackline/color worksheets
*Grid overlays for keeping answers organized in 2 and 3-digit multiplier
problems.
*Platform Independent: Adobe Acrobat .pdf documents--uses free Acrobat
Reader that is available for many platforms (Mac, Win 3.1, Win 95, etc.).

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled SUBTRACTION for Special Learners v1.4.1
NEEDS: Acrobat Reader
=A91995-99 Steven L. Wood

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled SUBTRACTION for Special Learners is a
unique tool for teaching subtraction. This set of PDF worksheets allow
students to compute while learning their facts. The fact bars, strips,
etc. included on each page include all and only the facts used on the
page. The worksheets are designed to be as uncluttered as possible, with
large numbers and very few problems on each page. Fact support is
included on ALL pages.

All facts presented in a factstrip or factbar are tested at least once on
the page. Emphasis is usually given to the newest facts. No other facts
should be on the page The "zero minus zero" fact is assumed, and if
necessary, should be directly taught.

Twenty-eight blackline masters comprise the basic package, with a
complement of twenty-eight word problem worksheets. Each page contains
fact bars presenting and previewing the facts to be used on the page.
Worksheets follow a logical and thorough progression through the
operation of subtraction. Complete answer sheets are included. Although
these pages may be used successfully for initial instruction in
subtraction, they were designed as a review for students who had tried
and failed with a traditional approach.

MD2:FCSfSpL is unique in that it is published only as a series of
computer documents, and in that it supplies comprehensive fact support.
This feature allows students who have not, or can not, master their facts
to continue learning the process of subtraction.

MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled SUBTRACTION for Special Learners ,
version 1.4.1, is shareware. You may download the Adobe Acrobat .pdf
file to "test-drive" it. No extra applications are necessary, other than
the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0. Registration of the PDF version for
Macintosh or Windows is just $10. The fully editable ClarisWorks version,
with many extras, is $25 (currently Mac only).

The MATH DITTOS 2 series now includes three fact controlled books
published only as computer documents. MATH DITTOS 2: Fact Controlled

MoviePhile is a FileMaker Pro database useful for keeping track of your
movie collection. It can even print VHS labels and store QuickTime movies.

You can enter, search and sort information about the movie title, cast,
rating, your personal evaluation of the movie, it's genre, whether it's
widescreen or pan & scan and more. If you taped it off of some source, you
can enter data as to what that source was, whether there are commercials on
the tape, the quality and speed of the recording and more.

You loan your movies out sometimes? You don't have to wonder any more who
has which movies - let MoviePhile take care of that for you.

Keep a record of plot, reviews, trivia and notes about your favorite movies.

There's even a place to store QuickTime movie trailers for your movies.

Do you have to use all of these features for MoviePhile to be of use to you?
No. If all you want is something to keep track of the movies in your

the other features are there when you need them.

Subject: [*] NavCom Cache Control 1.2

NavCom Cache Control is small PowerPC-only utility which allows Macintosh
users of Netscape 4.x browsers (Navigator or Communicator) to activate
and adjust their browser's memory cache. By moving the browser's cache
off the hard drive and into RAM, users replace the mechanical speed of a
hard disk with the electronic speed of memory.

NavCom Cache Control 1.2 is shareware. It can be used free for seven
days. It will then lock itself until a registration code is entered. The
shareware fee is US $1.00 cash, or, if you prefer to register online
through Kagi, the fee is US $3.00. The higher fee for Kagi is due to the
increased costs of collecting payments that way. Complete details on how
to register can be found in the download package.

An extensive user manual in HTML format is included with the distribution.

NavCom Cache Control requires a PowerPC Macintosh (or clone) and Mac OS 8
(or better), or any version of system software which supports the
Appearance Manager. It is designed to work with Netscape Preferences
files introduced in Netscape's 4.x series of browsers.

NavCom Cache Control 1.2 is a product of Day Job Softwerks. We can be
reached on the World Wide Web at:

This PDF file contains small flash card masters, each with a set of 18
facts. Each fact and its inverse are presented, with the exception of the
zero fact. The cards are purposely small so that they'll easily fit in a
pocket, thereby having an almost 50-50 chance of making it home. A
matched answer card is also included for printing the answers on the
back of the flash cards. The masters are set up for 8 1/2 x 11 printing
material. Lightweight cardboard such as bookcover stock is ideal.

This file is part of the MATH DITTOS 2 series, a unique, fact supported
approach to teaching computation. Each page in the series presents a
limited number of problems with plenty of workspace. The facts necessary
to complete each problem are always presented on the page in a fact

Subject: [*] SpriteWorld 2.2

SpriteWorld is a free animation package for programmers that allows you to
easily add sprite-based animation to your program. SpriteWorld was designed
with game programmers in mind, and has many features that are very useful for
making games, such as smooth overlapping of sprites, custom blitters to speed
up the animation, pixel-precise collision detection, the ability to create an
unlimited number of sprites of any size, a fast scrolling engine, and much
more. SpriteWorld comes with complete source code, so you can modify it if
necessary to suit your needs.

Here are just some of the improvements in SpriteWorld 2.2:
- A dramatically improved circular scrolling engine.
- Support for multiple tile layers, as well as a background picture behind
your tiles!
- Assertions were added to SpriteWorld. Now, if you forget to do something
important (such as locking the SpriteWorld before starting the animation),
you will (hopefully) get a polite dialog box reporting the problem instead of
having your program crash.
- New routines for playing asynchronous sounds.
- New routines for quickly drawing and copying lines and framed rectangles in
both scrolling and non-scrolling SpriteWorlds.
- Many new functions, such as SWPauseSpriteLayer, SWDisposeAllSpritesInLayer,
SWCountNumSpritesInLayer, and SWCloneSpriteFromTile.
- Various bug fixes and speed improvements.
- Plus a whole lot more!

Requirements:
System 7.0 or later, 68020 or later Mac, CodeWarrior C or Think/Symantec C
programming environment.

two folders can reside on the same volume, on two different volumes, or
indeed on two different computers connected by a network.

It has been designed principally for those people with two computers
(especially desktop and PowerBook) who need to ensure that they have the
most recent version of their documents available to them.

It also functions well as a simple backup utility for people with one
computer. For example, a folder residing on your main hard disk can be
linked to a folder residing on a floppy disk.

Listed here are some of the more commonly used features that SwitchBack
offers:

*Activity log
*Alias resolving
*Auto start option
*Auto-mounting and unmounting of remote volumes
*Balloon help
*Background copying and notifications
*Collision detection
*Compatible with all Macintoshes and clones runningハSystem 7.1 and later
*Copies up to 3 times faster than the Finder
*Detection of network time discrepancies
*Drag and Drop aware
*Error notification and optional log
*Power Macintosh and 68K native
*Report window allowing you to see what SwitchBack plansハto do

really accessible, and which will require a confirmation.
*You can also create display sets which will allow you to change the
resolution and the depth of all your monitors with just one mouse click, or
 just one key.
*You can save the position of the icons on your desktop, independently from
one resolution to the other, unlike the Finder. The position of the icons
is
 restored at startup.
*You can assign a specific set to an application, so that every time you
use this application, your Mac will automatically switch to your predefined
resolutions. You will find this extremely useful for most games.

*	Instantly quote a brief passage from received e-mail, allowing the sender
to remember their original message.
*	Read any text document aloud, if you have Apple's Speech Manager
extension. (Listen to a TeachText read-only file, for example, as the text
and pictures scroll by!)
*	Quickly optimize a document for printing, substituting professional-
looking typographical characters for generic, typewriter-era characters.
*	Create simple hypertext documents.
*	Insert attention-getting sound annotations to spice up ordinary inter-
office mail.
*	And more...

Subject: [*] TypeForMe! v1.0

TypeForMe! is a tool that lets you click with your mouse, rather than
typing on your keyboard. It is an assistive program ideal for people with
limited dexterity in their hands, and allows you to type by clicking an
on-screen keypad with your mouse.

Ship Date: 18-Feb-99

What is TypeForMe!?
TypeForMe! allows you to click on a onscreen keypad, instead of typing on a
conventional keyboard. You are able to type all normal characters, upper
and lower case, except for those requiring either the Command or Option
keys to be depressed in combination with the typed key. However, the
keyboard is still active on the keypad, so you would be able to type
"Copyright =A9 1999". (The '=A9' symbol is made by pressing Option-G.)

Requirements
* MacOS computer with a 68020 processor or greater, including Power PC.
* 4 MB of application RAM (8 MB is preferable).
* MacOS 7.0 or greater.

Subject: [*] Websafe ColorChooser 1.0.1

Welcome to Websafe ColorChooser 1.0.1. It's a simple freeware HTML
application intended to take the pain out of web color selection. The
original HTML ColorChooser was based on the 140 "Netscape" colors. This
new version, WebSafe ColorChooser, is based on the 216 colors in the web
safe palette.

We all know those useful little programs that allow you to pick a color
from a color wheel and show you the nearest Hex value. But it still
takes a lot of clicking before you see your text over your background
(and decide to do it differently alltogether). With Websafe ColorChooser
you can quickly judge 216 text colors over 216 background colors, giving
you an awesome 46656 possible combinations at the tip of your mouse.

You will need a HTML browser that knows how to handle frames, tables,
and JavaScript. Websafe ColorChooser was tested using Netscape
Communicator 4.5.

Subject: [*] Word Search V.2.3

This release of Word Search fixes a number of "serious" bugs which managed
to creep into the previous version when my back was turned.

It also includes one additional feature :-

Clues to the words can also be entered and printed in place of the words.
This simple addition now makes Word Search more useful in the educational
arena by enabling teachers to prepare useful but "fun" homework and
classroom tasks.

More info can be found at

Jim Graham

Subject: [*] YA-NewsWatcher 4.1.1

Yet Another NewsWatcher 4.1.1 is a Usenet newsreader application for
Macintosh. It features binary posting; styled text, image, and movie
viewing; flexible article filtering and sorting; background and possibly
deferred message sending and downloading of text and binary posts; and
multiple character set support. Yet Another NewsWatcher 4.1.1 is free. It
requires System 8.5 or later. Anyone using an older 4.x version of YA-NW
should upgrade to 4.1.1.

Note to archivists: YA-NewsWatcher 4.1.1 replaces the earlier 4.x
versions of YA-NewsWatcher. It does NOT replace the 3.x versions which are
still published for people using older system software.
