BOOM 1.2.3 Update

This update provides version 1.2.3 of Factor Software's game BOOM.
For details on bug fixes and new features provided with this version
please read the file named "What's New in 1.2.3" in the "BOOM Docs"
folder.

In order to use this update you must have BOOM version 1.2 or 1.2.1
already installed on your disk.
WARNING: the updater does not work with BOOM 1.2.2. If you have this
version please download a complete BOOM 1.2.3 package.
You don't have to be a registered user to use this update.

Follow these steps:
1) Launch the "BOOM 1.2->1.2.3 Updater" application. This will update
your copy of BOOM 1.2 or 1.2.1 to version 1.2.3.
2) Replace the folder "BOOM Docs" in your current BOOM folder with
the one included with this update.

WARNING: when the update is complete your original copy of the BOOM
application is moved to the Trash.

What's new in BOOM 1.2.3

     * Fixed a bug, introduced in version 1.2.2, that caused the game
to crash during startup on all iMacs (in fact, it failed to set the
monitor depth to 8-bit).
     * Fixed a bug, introduced in version 1.2.2, that caused the game
to crash when opening some dialogs on systems with Appearance Manager
older than 1.1 (for ex. Mac OS 8.1).
     * Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when opening the Info
dialog a second time.
     * Fixed a small memory leak (about 1k) occurring when starting a
new game or opening a saved game.
     * Now, when changing keyboard settings, the program checks if
Caps Lock is on and asks the user to switch it off.

Subject: [*] CP290 Director 1.5 - Control of X10 CP290 Home Automation System

I give permission for CP290 Director to be included on the Info-Mac CD-ROM.

CP290 Director is Macintosh software that controls the original X10
home automation computer controlled interface, model number CP290. It
completely replaces the Macintosh software that comes with the CP290,
and has unique features not found in other Macintosh-based CP290
controllers such as MouseHouse and Xtension.

CP290 Director does not have to be running at all times to control
the CP290, since it takes advantage of the CP290'S ability to store
events for later execution. In addition to the standard CP290
features, CP290 Director supports the following additional features:
1) the ability to specify that an event is to occur at sunrise or
sunset (plus or minus a specified time interval); 2) the ability to
specify a specific date on which an event is to occur, and optionally
the interval in days thereafter that the event should be repeated;
and 3) the ability to specify that the event should occur only on
even days or on odd days.

System requirements:
* System 7 through 8.6; not tested with MacOS 9
* Macintosh with at least 4 MB of RAM

Release 1.5 adds the ability to print an event listing or save it in
a file. For more information, please read the documentation
enclosed, or visit the CP290 Director Web page:

** New in version 2.0.0 **

- The program now comes with a runtime version of the FileMaker Pro 5
application, so people who do not own a copy of FileMaker Pro 5 can still
use it.
- The standard registration fee has been lowered from $20 to $15, but
doesn't allow access to the program's structure any longer (layouts and
scripts). Current users of DXoft Get Info can upgrade to this version for
free, using their current registration instructions.
- A new $30 "PRO" registration option is now available and offers full
access to the program's structure to those who want or need it. It's also
available as an upgrade to users of the standard version.
- An "Autosave" feature has been implemented. Users can turn it off if they
want, though it's not recommended.
- Better password protection: once registered, the program won't let people
without a valid password access its data. No user action is required to
enable this protection.
- The interface and online help have been improved to make the program even
easier to use.

Full Description:

Traditional word processors work in a linear fashion. Text follows text
which follows text. While this is great for a long research paper or a
novel, it makes the process of writing awkward, as notes and
organizational materials are easily lost or must be kept in separate
documents. Z-Write represents an innovative idea in word processing
technology: it allows you to store multiple documents within a single
file! Now you can create separate categories for notes, outlines, quotes,
ideas, character bios, rewrites, etc. Everything's easily available and
convenient, yet you aren't overwhelmed with details. With Z-Write, there
are no limits!

1- Ron Pike sugest deleting File Synch. I do it, the same crash.
2.- abrody recommends MacOS 9.0.4. I update, the same crash.

:-( I doubt my wife will react so nice the third time i erase her
new archives with outdated versions while trying to synchronize
the disks using other not as-simple-as-FileAssistant applications. :-)

In the mean time both applications continue crashing blatantly.
iMac & iBook/MacOs 9.04/HFS+/
Thanks for your help.

Digest Readers:
I posted this the other day but I had the URL wrong. The bit below is now
correct:

A little while ago a put a link and button on my personal web pages pointing to <
http://www.info-mac.org>. If anyone would like to, please feel free to lift it
and place it on their own pages. It could use more exposure than it gets on my
piddling little vanity page.
I think that the more interest we generate for Info-Mac the better for all of us.
If you make a snazzier button, let me know so I can use it instead of mine. How
about a nice little animated spinning iMac or something?
