Subject: [*] Activity & Expense Tracker v2

Redwood Valley, CA 11/22/2000 -- Today, SpiritWorks Software Development
released their improved project, activity and expense tracking system.
Activity & Expense Tracker v2 helps self-employed individuals, or small
businesses, to keep track of time and expenses spent on any number of
projects.

Now writers, programmers or any consultant can easily record the amount of
time they spend on specific activities and make notes on tasks and expenses.
They can then quickly generate invoices and reports that can be printed or
exported to word processing or spreadsheet programs.

Features include: Multiple Timers - quickly switch between projects by
pausing and restarting timers for each activity; Quick Check - an instant
report on the number of hours spent on a project or activity; Customize
background and button colors as well as the highlight color; Generate
reports and invoices for projects, activities and expenses, with
customizable headers and footers.

Activity & Expense Tracker works well for small businesses or work groups
too. Each person keeps track of their own time and expenses, exports the
data and sends it to an administrator, who imports them all, and then
generates invoices and time and expense reports.

Students, teachers, athletes and hobbyists can use Activity & Expense
Tracker to keep track of time spent on their projects too. Volunteers will
find the program useful for keeping track of time and expenses for tax
purposes.

Users can try out the software free for 30 days, before registering it for
only $35. Activity & Expense Tracker runs on most computers including,
Windows 95/98/2000/NT, Macintosh and many UNIX operating systems.

Activity & Expense Tracker helps you be more productive, by keeping track of
the time you spend on both billable and non-billable activities. It also
makes generating invoices and reports a quick and painless task.

John Hedley comments, "As a former administrator of a 500+ seat enterprise
project tracking system, I've found most of the single seat user shareware
systems to be sorely lacking in coherency or practicality. This is a first
rate, user friendly system."

Subject: [*] ASCIIEnc

ASCIIEnc is an AppleScript implementation of the Theta Pi TI-83
Encryption. It is a straight text-encryption program, able to
encrypt text messages only. It offers a level of security somewhere
between ROT13 and full-fledged ciphers such as DES and IDEA.

What are the two programs?

HexiEnc is a (possibly) more secure implementation of the encoding
scheme, while ASCIIEnc is an optimized version that encodes the text
much faster.

How do I use the program?

Upon opening the program, you will see a dialog box entitled "Input
Options." You can choose to enter or paste a message directly into
the program or have it open a plain text file with your message or
encrypted text.

Next, choose Encode to encrypt your plain text, or choose Decode to
decipher a previously encoded message.

After this prompt, enter your password. It can be anywhere from 1 to
255 characters, but a password longer than 4 characters is
recommended.

After en/decrypting the text, you can have the program display a
short message in a dialog box, or export to a new text file.

Do I need to Register ASCIIEnc?

No. ASCIIEnc, like the TI-83 version, is distributed free of charge.
You may also redistribute ASCIIEnc, as long as the readme file is
included.

Notes on ASCIIEnc

Please keep in mind that the current version of ASCIIEnc is
relatively slow. If you want to encode more than a few paragraphs,
be prepared to wait for a minute or two. Hopefully, subsequent
versions will be real programs, and as such will be able to process
the text much faster.

Subject: [*] Chocoletters 1.6 - A puzzle game

Chocoletters is a puzzle game. You have to find how the
computer mixed up 36 letters and figures in a 6 by 6 grid.
To succeed you may ask for paths leading from one letter to
another. With several paths you can deduce the positions of
the letters. The score depends on the number of paths and
the time spent to finish.
You can see examples at:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/pierre07/pages/chocopage.htm

Chocoletters should run on all of the 68020 System 7 +
Quicktime Macintoshes and later with a 640x480 color screen
or more.
You need Quicktime 3.0 to hear good sounds in Midi files.
You need Quicktime 4.0 to play mp3 files.

What's new in version 1.6 ?
- Better look, even if the tiles resemble more caramel than chocolate
- Pressing an "A...Z" or "1...9" key hilites the
corresponding tiles in the paths list.
- The animation is faster.

Chocoletters is a $10 US shareware. Payments are handled by Kagi.

Anyone have any experience with these problems? Is he correct about the

Is there another motherboard (with more reliability) that we can put in

Yes.

Over-simplification: Ethernet is "normally" effected by means of a
hub to which all the devices are connected using straight-through
cables. If only two devices are being connected, the hub sometimes
can be omitted but a crossover cable has to be used to connect the
two.

Subject: iMac suddenly soundless

Hi everybody,

I have a 233 iMac, rev. B. Last night I opened it to do a long due memory
upgrade with a 32 Mb Ram module. I followed the instructions step by step (I
already had done it on another machine) and all went apparently well. But
when I restarted it (pushing the reset button with a paper clip, because the
on button did not respond at first) it woke up completely soundless. All
else worked perfectly. I tried zapping the PRam, to no avail. I did have had
some trouble in reconnecting cables but they seemed to be correctly plugged
eventually.
Did I by any chance damaged the sound circuitry, or is there something I
miss?

Thanks for help

Piero.
