Subject: [*] HTML OptimizerPro 1.6

HTML OptimizerPro 1.6

What it is: A tool to check and optimize your web pages.
Author: Ton Brand
Company: Ton's Software
Computer: PowerPC
MacOS: 7.5 or later
License: shareware US$8.00
Abstract:
HTML OptimizerPro's main function is to save space on your web pages by
removing unnecessary characters and tags, making parsing the page by a
browser more efficient.
Four other useful functions of HTML OptimizerPro are:
(1) Checking the so called tagged pairs, i.e. the tags that always have to
appear together with their end tags. Further, IMG tags are checked for WIDTH,
HEIGHT and ALT attributes. ALT attributes can be added if missing, with or
without string.
(2) Checking the validity of the internal links.
(3) Marking dangling tags and missing attributes to find them quickly.
(4) Converting special characters to the &....; notation.
HTML OptimizerPro optimizes very fast: a few seconds for an average file.
New in this update is that optimizing and checking hyperlinks works more
efficient.
HTML OptimizerPro is a PPC application and requires Mac OS 7.5 or later.

Subject: [*] iView 3.8 with iUpload 1.0

iView Multimedia 3.8 has several improvements like the ability to
read Alias Pix format, AGD4 (Freehand 8), and drw7 (Canvas 7). Also iView
Multimedia has added a Chinese plug-in so its menus and dialogs can
be read in Chinese.

Even more significant is the addition of a new module called iUpload which
allows uploading images direct to photo upload sites on the web. iUpload can
upload directly from and iView catalog directly to the Photopoint and Zing
photo web sites. More sites will be added over time.

What is iView Multimedia?

iView Multimedia is a professional digital asset management system.

iView Multimedia can be used to catalog/display all these files, Quark,
Canvas, Painter, Live Picture, Freehand, PageMaker, Illustrator, gif, jpg,
TIFF, PICT, GX, BMP, Targa, EPS, fonts, sounds, movies, QuickTime VR,
animation, MPEG, PNG, Photoshop, MIDI, karaoke, Electric Image and
Electronic Arts, Alias and many others.

It can be used by pros in a demanding publishing environment because it
follows international standards, is photoshop compatible, is extremely fast,
powerful, stable and has great color precision.

At the same time it is not just for pros because it is fun, inexpensive,
practical and easy to use for anyone with a Macintosh.

8000 media files can be kept in one catalog and an infinite number of these
catalogs can be created. Create a web site of photos with just two clicks.
Export catalogs of media from iView Multimedia as QuickTime movies or a
poster or a text database or as an HTML website.

iView Multimedia can print out images and catalogs in a number of formats
including for a CD jewel case or Zip disk case and in many other ways.
Add annotation in the professional (ANPA) format used by Photoshop to any
media file. Add annotation as a batch to thousands of files at a time
something Photoshop cannot do. iView many other tools to batch rename, move,
copy, convert media files. Can also create finder icons for all images in a
catalog. Display media files thru 4 different views. Info, Thumbnail, Full
Size and Slide Show. It uses Apples drag and drop technology very
effectively.

*PhotoGrid is a simple image viewer that shows a lot of images at a time.
Now comes with the manual written by Dennis.
*TreeView which is like Finder's list view lets you select the folders and
files you want to view.
*GridView lists all the image files as thumbnails in a grid structure.
*You can resize the thumbnails at anytime so you can view the images with
various scales.
*PhotoGrid works like an image database but you don't have to register image
files in order to organize the database. Ordinary folders themselves are the
database.
*Caching into full given memory and a swap file makes PhoroGrid show images
virtually with no delay. PhoroGrid works well if given 4.5 MB of memory.
*Slide show.
*System requirements: PPC Mac like iMac. MacOS 8 or higher. MacOS 8.6 and
QuickTime 4 are recommended.
*Shareware price : U.S.$15.

Subject: [*] QXP PhotoBook - Image catalog creator for QuarkXPress

QXP PhotoBook is a utility that lets you create image catalog files
using QuarkXPress. It is ideal for creating catalogs of images or
clipart. You can quickly create covers for CD libraries or use it to
quickly print out a thumbnail of every image on a disk or CD.

Using PhotoBook you can create QuarkXPress files of any size and which
can contain any number of any image format supported by QuarkXPress,
including PDF and Gif.

PhotoBook can optionally include headers and footers and picture
captions in any font you specify. Special header and footer tags can
incorporate variable information such as date and time, folder names and
page numbers. Captions can include image information such as file name,
file size, file type and creation date. Also, there are options for
color, and picture box frame widths and styles.

Using drag and drop, PhotoBook makes cataloging images easy. After
configuring, drag image files or a folderful of image files onto its
icon to create QuarkXPress PhotoBooks. PhotoBook can be told to look
inside subfolders as well. There is also an option to batch create many
photobooks at a time.

Other features are described in the manual.

This is a simple ResCompare patch that removes all banners from the
International English version of Sherlock 2 (actually version 3.0.1,
included with OS 9). The patch will only work with the International
English version of Sherlock 2. To remove banners from earlier versions,
download Sherlock nobanners 1.0.

Most banner programs simply alter the search plugins in your system folder;
this one modifies three resources in the Sherlock 2 application itself,
displaying only gray space instead of some idiotic banner. If you would
rather make the modifications yourself, my web site has the instructions:

Use this program at your own risk. I am not responsible for the

Subject: [Q] source for 10Mb SIMM stick for powerBook 160?

Friend of mine of limited means has a PowerBook 160 with 4Mb of RAM and she
needs to be able to access the Internet. She needs more RAM to be able to
run PPP and a browser. Anyone know of a source for the 10Mb SIMM stick that
goes into a PB 160?

In Outlook Express, open the "Accounts" window and edit the account
you're interested in. Click the "Options" tab in the Edit window,
and you'll see the options you're looking for.

Your PPP software may have a "Allow Applications to Connect" setting
[that's what Apple OpenTransport PPP called it, I believe]. You may
want to try turning that setting off. That will mean that you'll
have to manually initiate a connection every time you want to connect
to the net, but you may find that preferable to constantly telling OE
to stop it.

Hello
My name is Doug Cook and I am looking for any internet software
available, or any sites making phone use over the internet for macintosh.
I am aware that dialpad.com is available but only for pc. I was wondering
if anyone knew of anything that might be helpful. I would much appreciate
it.

I believe you'll find an "AIM Menu Extension" in your extensions
folder. Deleting it should get rid of the AIM menu.

Looks like an installer bug if the uninstall left it laying around.
